The members of the Scientific Council of the Chantal Biya International Reference Center for Research on the Prevention and Cost of HIV / AIDS (CBIRC ) met in Yaoundé on July 7, 2016. It was within the framework of the 5th ordinary session of this international scientific body. Led by Professor Carlo Federico Perno, president of the body, the work was devoted to the examination of the scientific activities carried out by the institution during the first half of 2016. The recruitment of new researchers and the examination of the files of a change of rank of the scientific staff in the post was also on the agenda.
Teacher. Perno made a brief assessment of the work done by the Center in ten years of activity: “We can say that we have qualified researchers in the field of HIV. These will help the Center to be a place of reference for Cameroon. We are happy with the activities so far, but I think there is room for improvement. And that’s what we’re working on, ”he explained.
Concerning the improvement of the CBIRC ‘s activities, the evaluation of the clinical trials project at the Center was mentioned by the director, Prof. Alexis Ndjolo: “the clinical trials are in progress, the experts have been trained. We are waiting for the authorization we want to achieve them. It must be said that there is no valid research without clinical trials. As in the West, they must be adopted in our environment, ”he said.
For the recruitment of researchers, the director of the institution has his needs. In detail, we learned that the CBIRC is looking for researchers in virology, immunology, molecular biology, and specialists in public health, clinical trials, and a data manager.
