Abstract
Men having sex with men (MSM) in Cameroon are disproportionately affected by HIV. We evaluated virological response and HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) at a community-based organization between 2022-2023. Enhanced adherence counselling (EAC) sessions were conducted for all and cases with unsuppressed viral load (VL>1000copies/ml) underwent genotyping. From 502 treatment-experienced MSM enrolled, 95(18.9%) had unsuppressed VL with 82(86.3%) accepting to participate (ART-duration: 3 [2-5]years; 95.1%(78/82) under Tenofovir+Lamivudine+Dolutegravir). EAC led to 97.6%(80/82) suppression with 1/2 participant harboring HIVDR. High suppression rates and low HIVDR
demonstrate the effectiveness of treatment strategies locally; supporting the possibility of global HIV elimination targets among key populations.
